How to Prepare for a Hospitality or Apartment Photoshoot

Introduction:

Maximizing the potential of your property involves various strategies depending on your goals, the type of property, and its location. One strategy is to market your property through a professional photoshoot with an architectural photographer that offers a unique perspective to any construction, architectural, or interior project.

Here are the things you can do prior the photoshoot to be fully prepared. By completing these before the photoshoot, you can ensure that your property is fully prepared to make a great impression and attract potential buyers or tenants.

  • Make sure landscaping is complete, grass is mowed, leaves are blown, sidewalks are clear, weeds are pulled

  • Have housekeeping done- clean windows, sweep floors, 

  • Hide clutter on desks, hide cables, organize stacks on desks, remove branding of things outside of corporation

  • Remove seasonal decor

  • Remove temporary signage

  • Make sure furnishings are ready

  • Remove items with large branded content on them.  

  • Have fresh flowers or alive plants

  • Remove clutter from balconies

  • Have the rooms stylized prior to the scheduled shoot 

  • Hide garbage cans

  • Make sure there are service vehicles on site are not parked

  • Make sure to not schedule shoot while service vehicles are on site

  • If you don’t want vehicles in the parking lot during the shoot.  Alert Staff or schedule during low traffic.  

  • Remove covers on outdoor furniture, swimming pools

  • Kitchen- remove unnecessary clutter, hide large counter appliances ( crockpots, flash frier, toaster, 

  • Organize and collect children / animal toys in bins 

  • Make sure all the light cans, lights have light bulbs.  Have the lights be the same wattage and color temperature

  • If you want a twilight images of your facility schedule the shoot around sunrise or sunset depending on what direction the home faces

  • Organize the garage 

  • Organize outdoor furniture

  • Prior to the photographer arriving have all lights on

  • Alert Staff and residents of photoshoot.  Ask them to clean up their space prior to the shoot.  

Scheduling the Shoot

Schedule photoshoot during low traffic. For every shot expect it to take 10-15 mins depending on size of room. Exteriors are typically shot at twilight at sunrise or sunset depending on what direction the building faces.  

  • Someone needs to be onsite to allow the photographer into the building

  • Have all lights on in the building for exterior shots

  • Let the photographer know the timing when any branding or signage lights are on or off.  

  • Prior to the shoot is recommended that the photographer come on site to do a walk through to determine the best time for lighting conditions and traffic of the area
